Mohammad Azharuddin, popularly known as Azhar, was born on February 8, 1963, in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium pace bowler. He is a retired Indian cricketer and an Indian Politician. Azharuddin was the captain of the national team during the 1990s. But after getting entangled in a match-fixing scam, he was compelled to take retirement from his cricket career. Azharuddin, a member of Indian National Congress, was elected to the Lok Sabha, from the Moradabad constituency of Uttar Pradesh.

Career of Mohammad Azharuddin

In his prime, Mohammad Azharuddin had an elegant and flexible batting technique; the wrist flip was his typical style and he warded off the skilled spinners, with the best of abilities. His Test debut was in the India vs. England, at Kolkata, held from December 1984 to January 5, 1985. Azharuddin boasts off the 110 in the very first innings of his Test debut. In the first 3 Tests, he had scored 3 successive hundreds. He unfortunately was rendered out for a LBW for 199 in a Test match against Sri Lanka. This was the topmost achievement in his Test career. Mohammad Azharuddin, throughout his Test career, had accumulated 6215 runs, at a high average of 45.03. Mohammad Azharuddin had bagged 22 centuries on the whole, in Test career. Political Life of Mohammad Azharuddin
Mohammad Azharuddin joined the Indian National Congress on 19th February 2009. Azhar contested the 2009 General Election, from Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. Azharuddin became successful in the elections and represented the Indian National Congress party.
Personal Life of Mohammad Azharuddin
Azharuddin is also known to be maintaining his initiative, the gym called Est, in his hometown, Hyderabad .Mohammad Azharuddin is also engaged in Real Estate and Software business in Dubai,
Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru,
Goa,
Delhi and
Chennai. Azhar is married to former Bollywood actress Sangeeta Bijlani. His son Ayaz, aged 19 years, died on 16 September 2011.
