MMK College of Commerce and Economics, Bandra (W), MumbaiMMK College of Commerce and Economics is one of the prominent institutions located at Bandra (West) in Mumbai. MMK College of Commerce and Economics was started with mere 77 students. MMK College of Commerce and Economics established by the H(S)NC Board in the year 1961, is affiliated to the prestigious University of Mumbai. It was awarded `B++ grade` by NAAC as per the accreditation norms set at the national level. Over the years, the institution with over 4000 students on its rolls, has made rapid strides in diverse fields and has introduced a variety of courses as per the requirements of the students. Gradually courses like M.Com (with specialization in Accountancy), B.Com (vocational), BMS and few other diploma courses were added.

Objective of MMK College of Commerce and Economics
MMK College of Commerce and Economics was founded with the motto of becoming a premier institution in the city of Mumbai, providing education at the undergraduate and post graduate levels in the fields of Commerce and Economics with specialisation in Accountancy, Management, International Business and other emerging areas. MMK College of Commerce and Economics also aimed to kindle intellectual curiosity in the students with a view to inspire them towards achieving academic excellence, take in positive and healthy values and consequently develop a wall balanced personality, capable of working harmoniously as part of a team and adjusting to the ever-changing environment. To empower teachers to perform the role of change-makers in society and to dedicate themselves to the enhancement of quality teaching by continuous up gradation of their knowledge was another main objective of MMK College of Commerce and Economics.

Some of the popular courses at this college include Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS), B.Com in Banking and insurance (BBI), B.Com in Accounting and Finance (BAF), Bachelor in Mass Media (BMM), Masters in Commerce in Management(M.Com), B.Com in Financial Markets(B.F.M.) and Foreign Trade.

MMK College of Commerce and Economics offers several facilities to the students including state of art conference room, well equipped library, canteen, Xerox centre, computer lab, etc. The committed faculty nurtures the aspirations of young students to excel academically and also lay the foundation for life long learning. Varied activities such as NSS, sports, literary and debating, cultural festivals and the annual international economics convention provide opportunities to students to interact with the community leading to their holistic development. `Aakarshan` is the inter-collegiate festival hosted by the college during the month of December. The `Economics Convention` has gained popularity both within the country as well as internationally. It started out as an activity for students of Economics alone, but the popularity has spread overseas too.

MMK College of Commerce and Economics has a rich tradition of producing stalwarts who go on to make a name in their respective fields. Viren Rasquinha, National level Hockey player, Sameer Ambekar, Gold medalist in Commonwealth games in shooting, Sulakshana Naik, Indian women`s cricket team, Perizad Zorabian, Actor, and Mohit Suri, ace film director are a few of the alumni who have made the college proud.

Thus, it is clear that MMK College of Commerce and Economics was mainly established to impart education, which suits the needs of business and industry, where fulfilling social responsibility is being increasingly recognised as crucial for the progress of the society.
