Meeting of Rama and Sugriva
Meeting of Rama and Sugriva, Hanuman and other monkeys takes place in the Rishyamuka Mountain while searching for Sita along with his brother Lakshmana.

Meeting of Rama and Sugriva, Kishkindha Kanda, RamayanaMeeting of Rama and Sugriva takes place in the Rishyamuka Mountain while they are searching for Sita. After knowing from Jatayu that Ravana had stolen Sita and after the two brothers completed the funeral rites of Jatayu who was fatally wounded by Ravana, they moved further in their search and encountered a rakshasa on their way. That rakshasa was a cursed one and was destined to get relief in the hands of Rama and after Rama killed the rakshasa and burned him, the rakshasa rose from the burning pyre and informed the two brothers to move towards the Rishyamuka where they would find the gentle and great monkey Sugriva who would help them in finding out Sita. Thus, Rama and Lakshmana headed for the Rishyamuka Mountain.

Sugriva was in exile in Rishyamuka since he was forced to leave Kishkindha and his wife by his cruel elder brother Bali . Sugriva thus lived the bitter life of an exile in the mountain and was always afraid of his brother`s secret agents who would convey the message to his brother about his hereabouts. Therefore, when Sugriva first say Rama and Lakshmana with their arms, fled away to a secret place and send Hanuman in the guise of a hermit in order to understand the purpose of visit of the two newcomers to their place of hiding. Hanuman, thus met Rama and Lakshmana and after hearing everything from Lakshmana thought that the two brothers could also help Sugriva to regain his kingdom from his brother Bali and took Rama and Lakshmana to the place where Sugriva was hiding.

Rama and Lakshmana were led by Hanuman to the place where Sugriva was hiding in the Rishyamuka Mountain. Hanuman then introduced the two brothers, Rama and Lakshmana to the monkey chief Sugriva and both Rama and Sugriva met each other and held conversation with regard to each others problems. Both Rama and Sugriva, after discussing with each other decided to form an alliance. Rama vowed to help Sugriva to regain his kingdom Kishkindha and his wife and Sugriva also promised to assist Rama by providing his huge army of monkeys to search for Sita.
