Medical colleges in India aim to impart a good quality of medical guidance and care to Indians with the aide of enhancement and maintenance of medical education, being armed with over 40, 525 medical students. All these colleges are officially recognized by the organization known as the Medical Council of India and the various medical schools are termed as `medical colleges`. A majority of these medical colleges were established by the state and central governments during the 1950`s and the 1960`s.
