In the Puranas, Maudgalyas are said to be a class of Brahmans who descended from Mudgala. Maudgalyas were all followers or adherent supporter of Angiras.
Angiras is a Vedic Rishi who along with sage Atharvan wrote in most of the fourth Veda, the Atharvaveda.
