Mattupatti Dam is constructed near Munnar in Idukki District in Kerala. The dam is a storage stonework dam built in the mountains of Kerala, India to preserve water for hydroelectricity. Mattupatti Dam has proved to be a vital source of power in the state, yielding along with other such dams, huge profits to the states. The huge amount of perennially available water allowed wild animals and birds to thrive in the region. However salinity caused due to irrigation and water logging are of serious concern to the environmentalists. The probable location of the Mattupatti Dam is near the confluence of the mountain streams of Muthirappuzha River, Chanduvarai River and Kundali River.
