Legend says that sage Parashuram has built the Mata Renuka Temple.

Mata Renuka Temple, Gohad TehsilMata Renuka Temple, a primeval pilgrimage, is situated at Jamdara village in Gohad tehsil, which is 45 km from Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh. According to the legends, the temple was built by Parashuram.

History of Mata Renuka Temple
Parashuram"s father, Maharshi Jamdagini had ordered to cut-off the head of his Mother Renuka, to which Parashuram complied with. But, as a prize of his deed, he asked from his father the restoration of the dead mother. Then Renuka`s spirit multiplied and moved to different regions; Renuka was back as a whole too. This miracle inspired her sons and others to become her followers, and worship her. The temple was built at the place of this activity. In the temple, the idol of Deity Mother Renuka with a separated head is there in the temple.
