Massanjore Dam
The Massanjore dam is also renowned as "Pearson Dam" or "Canada Dam", across the Mayurakshi River. The project for the dam was commissioned in the year 1956 with assistance from Government of Canada. The dam was officially inaugurated by Lester B. Pearson, the Foreign Minister of Canada. The Massanjore dam was not permitted to contain a flood reserve. Along with the construction of the Dam, the State Government selectively took over flood control embankments in the year 1956. Canada devoted the amount from the counterpart Rupee fund, created through supplies of wheat and other materials from Canada, for the further development of the Mayurakshi Dam project. The dam is 155 feet in height from its base and is about 2,170 feet in length. The reservoir consists of an area of 16,650 acres and a storage capacity of 500,000 acre feet.
