This is a small plant found in the eastern Mediterranean countries, southern Europe and North Africa. The therapeutic properties of marjoram oil are analgesic, anti-spasmodic, anti aphrodisiac, antiseptic, antiviral, bactericidal, carminative, cephalic, cordial, diaphoretic, digestive, diuretic, expectorant, fungicidal, hypotensive, laxative, nervine, sedative, vasodilator and vulnerary.
