Location of Marine Drive
Marine Drive, which is now officially called Netaji Subhash Chandra Road is located in the Southern part of Mumbai, Maharashtra, which is one of the posh stretch in Mumbai. It is located over domesticated land, and its coastline forms the part of the Arabian Sea. One of the main attractions of this place is the striking esplanade just next to the road, where scores of people come to watch sunset and breathe fresh air.

Marine Drive is upturn C shaped six lanes with concrete roads, which lengthens to 3 km along the coastline- a natural bay. This very avenue connects Nariman Point with Malabar Hills.

Construction of Marine Drive
Marine Drive was constructed in the year 1920s and 1930s on land rescued from the sea. It is most famous pathway of Mumbai, and attributable to its extravagant loveliness is known as "Queen`s Necklace" because of the dramatic line of street lamps lit up at night that surround the beach. Marine Drive is officially called Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Road, but was earlier identified as Sonapur amongst local Marathi populace. Marine Drive presents a beautiful and scenic atmosphere, with palm trees lined up along the road, attracts not only the tourists, but also it is a place of repose among the pedestrians and the paradise of morning walkers.

Attraction of Marine Drive
Marine Drive looks stunning at night when the place gets illuminated with lights, and especially if it is viewed from an elevated point. It is one of the busiest roads in the city of Mumbai, and has been acclaimed as world`s largest viewing gallery that hosts various events. Located next to the Arabian Sea, Marine Drive offers the best causeway to take refreshing saunter. And it is one of the major tourist places in Mumbai. Marine Drive is considered as the major viewing gallery of the world. Several events have been hosted along its walkway over the years. The list includes Bombay Marathon, IAF Airshow, French Festival, International Fleet Review and many others. There are also several beautiful projects in channel, which include open air galleries and an improvised promenade at the Nariman Point.

Visiting Information
To visit Marine Drive, one needs to reach Mumbai via air or by train from anywhere in India. The best time to visit Marine drive is in the early morning between 5am- 8am.
