Margashirsha also named as Agrahayana is the ninth month in a Hindu calendar. The word "agrahayana" means the month of equinox. The month begins from 22nd November and ends on 21st December.
In Vedic times, this month was also known as Margashirsha after the nakshatra (asterisms) Mrigashira.
Margashirsha in lunar calendars begins on either the new moon or the full moon around the same time of year. Again in solar calendars Margashirsha begins with the Sun`s entry into Scorpio.
