Marari Beach derives its name from Maraikulam which is a beautiful fishing village and is one of the leading tourist spots in Kerala. The sleepy village is still veiled from the developments and life here reminds the peaceful bygone eras. Marari Beach offers the visitors a peaceful time, unperturbed by the commotions of city life. The beach spans over 25 acres of land and serves as an idyllic location for a vacation.

Marari Beach enjoys a hot and humid climate all through the year and is thus a popular holiday destination. It receives rain from both the southwest and northeast monsoons resulting in intensely heavy downpours, especially from June to July and late October to December. Thus the time from late December to March are considered as best to visit the beach during which the weather remains dry and sunny.

The sun kissed beach of Marari stretches to miles and is adorned with swaying palms. Marari is regarded as a virgin territory and traditional Keralan hospitality can be best experienced at the place. It is also a favourite picnic spot for the local folks. Bathing in the surging waves of Marari Beach amid the scenic nature is an unforgettable experience. A number of meandering village pathways lead to the fishing village and exploring them adds to the tourism at Marari Beach. Marari Beach is neat and is quite safe for swimming. Being a deserted spot, the beach is not much developed. Marari Beach is an ideal place to relax, soaked in the serenity of nature. Swaying palm trees line the beach and look like a green coloured wall stretching up to the Arabian Sea. The sound of the sea waves crashing against the shores of the beach is very soothing.

Watching the fishermen going to the sea everyday for fishing, which supports their livelihood, presents a pleasant view. Activities like skiing in the waters of the Arabian Sea, parasailing and surfing can be enjoyed here. Beach volleyball can also be played at the beach. A number of nearby places can be accessed from the beach including Kerala backwater canals, traditional coir-making units, Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, St. Francis" Church, the Dutch palace, Jewish Synagogue and others.

Marari Beach lies at a distance of 64 kilometres from Cochin Airport which serves as the nearest airport. The nearest railway station is located 5 kilometres away. The beach can also be reached conveniently through roadways. Cochin, deviating 1 kilometre from the National Highway, is well connected to Marari Beach.
