Manushi Chhillar is the sixth Indian woman to win Miss World after Priyanka Chopra won Miss World 2000. She is an Indian model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss World 2017. She was formerly crowned as Femina Miss India 2017 on 25 June 2017. Manushi Chhillar is an aspiring gynaecologist and cardiac surgeon. She is an excellent dancer and is trained in Kuchipudi. She is a trained classical singer also.
Early Life of Manushi Chhillar
Manushi Chhillar was born 14 May 1997. Although she was born and brought up in New Delhi, Manushi`s family hails from Haryana`s Jhajjar region. Her father, Dr. Mitra Basu Chhillar, is a scientist at the Defence Research and Development Organisation, while her mother, Dr. Neelam Chhillar, is an associate professor and department head of neurochemistry at the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences.
She studied at St. Thomas` School in New Delhi, and is pursuing a medical degree at the Bhagat Phool Singh Medical College in Sonipat. She is a trained Kuchipudi dancer, and has been trained under celebrated dancers Raja and Radha Reddy and Kaushalya Reddy. Chhillar has also attended the National School of Drama.
Career of Manushi Chhillar
Manushi Chhillar engraved her name in history books when she won the popular Miss World crown for India after 17 years. On 25th June 2017, she took part in the Femina Miss India 2017 contest and represented the state of Haryana. In the competition, she was crowned with Miss Photogenic and went on to win the contest as well and earned the right to embody India at the Miss World 2017 competition.
Manushi Chhillar became a semi-finalist in the Top Model, People`s Choice, and Multimedia competitions at Miss World 2017. She also won the title of Head-to-Head Challenge from Group-9 and co-winner of the Beauty with a Purpose contest. Her Beauty with a Purpose project was Project "Shakti". The campaign`s objective is to spread responsiveness about menstrual sanitation. She visited about 20 villages for the project and treated over 5,000 women. On 18th November 2017, she was crowned with the title of Miss World 2017. She became the sixth Indian woman to win the crown, and the first since Priyanka Chopra won Miss World 2000.
