It is believed that during the holy matrimony of the Hindu God Shiva and Goddess Parvati, all the Gods and Goddesses from Heaven had gone to the Kailash Parvat, in order to attend the auspicious ceremony. This disrupted the balance of Earth, for which Munivar Agasthiar River is meditated at the Agasthiar Falls and the wedding was completed smoothly. Manimuthar Dam and Papanasam Dam is an exquisite site to visit. The area around the dam is airy and the clean mountain river water, adds glory to the premises. The boat ride to the Papanasam Falls is worth a task to be accomplished.

Manimuthar Falls can be visited in railways, roadways and airways. The nearest railway head to reach Manimuthar Falls is at Kallidaikurichi. One can reach the Manimuthar Falls from the Manimuthar Dam via Ghat road, about 5 kilometres away.
