Mandodari was the favorite wife of Ravana. She was the beautiful and pious daughter of the King of Danavas, Mayasura and the celestial dancer, Apsara Hema.

Mandodari is a mother of Indrajit who defeated Indra, the king of Devas.

Mandodari is one of the Pancha Kanyas in Hindu mythology, the others being Ahalya, Draupadi, Sita and Tara.
