Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is one of the most essential management entrance test held by the All India Management Aptitude Testing Service (AIMATS) in India and some overseas locations. This test is mandatory for getting admissions to the post graduate management courses.

Management Aptitude Test (MAT)Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a national level entrance test conducted by the All India Management Aptitude Testing Service (AIMATS), New Delhi. This test is being conducted on a national basis since the year 1988. This entrance test is usually organized in the months of February, May, September and December. This national level entrance test has got an approval from the Government of India. Students who are interested in making a successful career in the corporate sector need to appear for this entrance for pursuing the post graduate management courses. Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is held for admissions in the MBA and equivalent degree courses. All the recognized colleges or institutes that are offering post graduate degree programmes in management and associated fields can participate in this entrance test.

Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is essential for getting admissions into several courses like Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology & Management (PGDITM), Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM), and other equivalent programmes, which are offered by All India Management Association (AIMA-CME) and other prestigious management institutes of the country. All the management institutes and colleges that participate in MAT or Management Aptitude Test are either affiliated to universities or are approved by AICTE (All Indian Council for Technical Education). All India Management Association (AIMA-CME) provides a number of management programmes in order to suit the requirements at various levels of management. The results of MAT are accepted by AICTE-approved Management Institutes and All India Management Association - Centre for Management Education (AIMA-CME). MAT is conducted in various locations of the country and besides that it is also organized at various overseas locations.

Application Forms
Candidates can obtain the application forms and the MAT bulletin either in person or by post by sending a demand draft of the requisite amount that is drawn in favour of AIMA-CMS. Along with the demand draft the candidates need to send two self addressed adhesive slips or stickers. The notification regarding the issue of the application forms and MAT bulletin is given in the leading national as well as regional dailies of the country. The application forms are available generally two months prior to the examination date. The MAT bulletin also comprises the information about the last date of submitting of the application forms. The list of the various universities and management institutes is provided in the MAT bulletin along with other details like admission notification.

Eligibility Criteria for Management Aptitude Test (MAT)
The admissions or eligibility criteria for every institute participating in Management Aptitude Test (MAT) differ from one another. The minimum eligibility criterion is Bachelor`s degree from any recognized university or college in any stream of study or discipline. Final year students of B.A, B. Sc, B. Com or B. Tech are also eligible to apply. The candidates need to have the minimum percentage of marks in their graduation that vary from the management institutes and colleges. However, there is no age bar, or experience requirement or constraint regarding percentages or scores in order to appear for Management Aptitude Test (MAT).

Pattern of Examination
Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is of 2 and half hours duration. It comprises of 200 questions, 1 mark each. The main sections of the written test are Reading or Language Comprehension (40 questions), Quantitative Aptitude (40 questions), Data Interpretation/Data Sufficiency (40 questions), Logical and Critical Reasoning (40 questions) and General Awareness (40 questions).

Syllabus
There is no pre set syllabus for MAT. The students should prepare as per the different sections of the test pattern. The test measures the student`s command over the English language and analytical and reasoning skills.

Selection Process
The candidates are called for the group discussion and personal interview on the basis of the scores obtained in the written test. However, the students must note that the selection criteria might differ from one college to another.
