Malhar, Bilaspur District, ChattisgarhMalhar is a tiny Indian town located in the district of Bilaspur in Chattisgarh and is quite reputable for its archaeological significance. This region is based about 40 km away from Bilaspur. Ancient remnants of temples belonging to the 10th and 11th century have been found here. Several archaeological relics have been unearthed from this pre-historic site, thanks to the several excavations conducted here by the Archaeological Survey of India or ASI. Malhar town has been classified as one amongst the `Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains of National Importance` by the ASI.

Archaeological Attractions at Malhar
Archaeological excavations have revealed some ancient temples in Malhar include Dindeshwari Temple, Devri Temple and Pataleshwar Temple, along with evidences of artefacts associated to the religion of Jainism. The four-handed figurine of Lord Vishnu present here is also quite famous. Apart from this, archaeological remnants belonging to the period of 1000 BC to the rule Kalchuri rule. The `Gomukhi Shiva Linga` is a major attraction of the Pataleshwar Temple. Beautiful artistic idols have been found in Deor Temple. A regional museum found here also contains numerous specimens of old sculpture, which is supervised by the Government of India. This museum also boasts of the numerable relics uncovered from Malhar. Budikhar and Malhar are the villages which stores ancient objects.
