Malayalam Poets, Malayalam LiteratureLiterature is a part of the heritage of India. Indian literature exists in varied languages. Various Indians skilled in writing have contributed in creating this part of India"s heritage in the form of stories, novels, prose, essays, etc using varied languages. Malayalam literature is no exception in this regard. A noteworthy aspect of this literature is poetry written by eminent poets. Some of these poets and their works are described and mentioned below.

Chandiroor Divakaran
Chandiroor Divakaran is recognized as a Malayalam language poet, song writer, short story writer and author. Such has been the contribution of Divakaran to Malayalam literature that he was awarded the Ambedkar National Award in 2011. Chakara, Ulsavam and Desapuranam are his children`s poetry. Lalitha Lenin
Lalitha Lenin is recognized as a Malayalam poet. She has contributed poems, short-stories and articles to mainstream periodicals. The names of her poetries are Karingili, Karkidavaavu, Namukku, Praarthikkaam and Kadal. The novel which she has written for children is called Minnu. She has also worked as a translator.

S. K. Pottekkatt
S. K. Pottekkatt is known to be a Malayalam writer from Kerala. His writings exist in varied forms namely, novel, travelogue, short story, play, essay and poem. The poetic works of Pottekkatt are Prabhaatha Kanthi, Sanchaariyude Geethangal and Premashilpi.

Vayalar Ramavarma
Malayalam Poets, Malayalam LiteratureVayalar Ramavarma is recognized as a modern Malayalam language poet and lyricist belonging to the state of Kerala. Ramavarma has varied forms of publications to his credit namely, poems (like, Paadamudrakal, Konthayum Poonoolum, Enikku Maranamill, Mulankaadu and Oru Judas Janikkunnu), essays, story collections, etc.

Chemmanam Chacko
Chemmanam Chacko is recognized as a satirical poet from Kerala. The first published poem of Chacko is called `Munnottu`. In his poems, Chacko has utilized satire as his weapon. Some of his poems are Vilamparam, Nellu, Kanakaaksharangal, Innu, Puthari, Asthram and Aavanazhi. He was given the lifetime achievement award for literature by the Kerala Sahitya Akademi in 2006.

N Prabhakaran
N Prabhakaran is recognized as a poet, short story writer, novelist, playwright, essayist and columnist in Malayalam. Kalnada, Njan Theruvilekku Nokki and Kakka are the poems of N Prabhakaran. Some of his short stories are Ottayante Pappan, Marupiravi and Rathrimozhi. N Prabhakaran has written novellas like Ezhinum Meethe and Janthujanam. Some of his novels are Thiyoor Rekhakal, Bhahuvachanam and Jeevante Thelivukal.
