Malabar hill is a small hill situated in the southern part of Mumbai. The hill is situated at a height of 50 metres. It is a posh residential area of Mumbai in the south of Cumballa Hill. Embedded in history, Malabar hill is the home to some of the grand mansions of Mumbai namely the Chief Minister`s house, Raj Bhavan and a magnificent state guesthouse. The highest point of the hill is fifteen metres above mean sea level. From here one can enjoy a stunning scenic view of the Queens Necklace.
Attractions of Malabar Hill
The Temple of Walkeshwar, established by the Silhara kings is located in the Malabar hill. However, the current temple is the renovated version as the original temple was destroyed by the Portuguese. The present temple was rebuilt by Rama Kamath in the year 1715, and by 1860, more than fifteen other temples were constructed in the region. The first bungalow in Malabar hill was founded by Mountstuart Elphinstone. At that time he was Governor of Bombay. Malabar Hill is known for housing various buildings of political importance. Raj Bhavan (the official residence of the Governor) and the bungalow "Varsha" (the official residence of the Chief Minister of Maharashtra) are situated here. It also shelters several business tycoons and film personalities. Some of the most sought after private house pads for business czars and Bollywood comprise of Anita, Blue Haven, Darshan, Sundatta Apartments, Ill Pallazio, Mayfair Gardens, Alankar, and Benhur. Antilla which is the most expensive private residency lies just outside Malabar hill. This 27-storey, billion-dollar tower is owned by India`s richest person Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries.
In addition to these iconic buildings, it houses the Banganga tank which is the oldest structure in Mumbai. Other major attractions located here are Hanging Gardens, Kamala Nehru Park and Tower of Silence. The view of the Back Bay and the cool breezes make the Malabar Hill area one of the most expensive real estate in the world.

The nearest railway station is the Grant Road Railway Station. The Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is located in the north at a distance of twenty five kilometres.
