Majorda beach is a beautiful sandy beach surrounded by palm trees. It is one of the prettiest beaches of Goa. It sits on a wide 25 kilometres stretch of sand, spread with covered parasols and lapped by the Arabian Sea. On the northern side of the beach, there are a lot of beach shacks and water sports activities. It is a popular beach of Goa situated in the southern part of Bagmola. It is located at a distance of about 4 kilometres from Margao and 5 kilometres from the Colva beach.
Legends of Majorda Beach
According to a legend in the Indian mythology, Lord Rama came to this beach in search of his wife, Sita, due to which the southern part of the beach is also known as Cabo-de-Rama. There is another legend which states that, Lord Rama was once kidnapped in his childhood and brought to this beach.

Majorda beach is famous for the Nature Lovers and Adventure Seekers. Majorda Beach is the place for Goa"s Christmas Carnival. Majorda is also the place where the Jesuits discovered the best toddy of Goa which was used to leave the bread. Even today the people of Majorda are known to be the best bakers of Goa as they were the first to know the art of baking European breads. The famous Goan Toddy, which is the fermented breads made from the sap of coconut palm, was discovered here. The steaks and schezhuan specialties can also be enjoyed at Marjorda beach.
Swimming at the beach is a special attraction and sufficient numbers of lifeguards are available on the beach for safety and security. Tourists can participate in water sports like jet skiing, water skiing, parasailing and can also go to explore nearby villages or simply relax on the beach under colourful beach umbrellas and reclining on pool chairs.
Attractions of Majorda Beach
One of the popular attractions of the Majorda beach is the Mae De Deus church. The church was built in 1588 A.D. After being destroyed in 1738, it was rebuilt in 1739. The church also attracts a lot of tourists who throng to worship the church and receive blessings. Basilica of Bom Jesus is also another nearby attractions of the Majorda beach which has earthly remains of St. Francis Xavier and visitors assemble in this place to view its decorative architecture. Monte Hill Chapel is located very close to the Majorda beach. A lot of tourists throng this place to sightsee a mesmerizing view of countryside. Church of Our Lady of Mercy is just few kilometres away from the Majorda Beach. The Fama Festival of Church of Our Lady of Mercy is celebrated here in the month of October every year.
Chandor is one of the most projecting villages and is located close to the Majorda beach. It is considered as the capital of Chandrapur rulers during the early period. This place is celebrated for its temple and ancient fort. Damodar Temple is also another nearby attractions of the Majorda beach and huge number of devotees and tourists visit here to worship Lord Damodar, who is an appearance of Lord Shiva.

Majorda Beach can be reached from Dabolim airport, which is just 17 kilometres away. Visitors can also arrive at the beach from Majorda Railway Station which is just 11 kilometres away from the beach.
