Mahaveerji Fair is one of the most famous festivals in Rajasthan. The festivity is mainly held in honor of the 24th Jain tirthankara, Shri Mahavir Swami. Mahavirji Fair is a Jain fair where once upon a time the pilgrims from the entire subcontinent visited the shrine to worship and seek the blessings of the Jain Tirthankara. The statue of the Mahavir Swami is washed early in the morning and the ritual is called Prakshalan. A Puja is followed by the evening aarti. The festivities reach the peak when the idol is carried to the bank of river Gambhiri accompanied by a splendid procession for the Kalash Abhishek. Two bullocks are used to pull the chariot in which the idol is kept.
