Maharshi Dayanand College, Parel, MumbaiM.D. College was established in 1962 for the upliftment of children of the disadvantaged sections of society. The college was founded by Late Shri Mangaldas Verma, noted industrialist and philanthropist and named it after the great reformer and founder of the Arya Samaj - `Maharshi Dayananad Saraswati`. The College began in an old mansion named `Kamgar Manzil` at Parel. Later, the present building was constructed.

USP of the college:
A unique characteristic of this College is that Scholarships are awarded for every subject at every level. The purpose of these Scholarships is to encourage, and motivate the students to excel in their subject of study. The College encourages Kabaddi, Kho-kho, Table- tennis and-other sports. The NCC NSS wings engage in meaningful and socially relevant activities.

Streams:
Arts, Science, Commerce, Computer Science, and Mass Media. In junior college, Medical Laboratory Technology, Accountancy and Auditing, Electronics and Inland Fishery are offered as Vocational subjects
