Maenam Hill, Ravangla, SikkimMaenam Hill is located near to Ravangla town in Sikkim. It is situated at an elevation of 10,300 ft. The Maenam Hills is one of the trekking points of Ravangla. The scenic view of the hill is breathtaking and enlivens the spirit of the tourists. One can experience the imposing view of the lush green landscape and the snow capped Kanchenjunga Peak. Maenam Hill is located above Tendong Hill. This hill is also a meditation site for a large number of monks.

Maenam Hill is actually the apex of the ridge that divides the Teesta River and the Rangeet River, the two major river systems of Sikkim. On a clear sunny day, it is possible to get a glimpse of the plains of Bengal spanning across Kalimpong and Darjeeling hills in the South and right across the Indo-China border towards the North.

Things to Do at Maenam Hill
The nearest town to Maenam is Ravangla from where short treks of about 3 to 4 hours can be taken in the suburbs. The legendry "Bhaley Dunga" located in the proximity is kind of rocky spur which protrudes out from the ridge top and can be seen above Yangyang village. Tourists can also climb down to villages of Yangyang or Borong through lazy trails. Maenam Hill, the quiet and serene place located at the backdrop of snow white mountains serves as a perfect tourist spot for the tourists eager to embrace the beauty of the nature.

Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary
A major part of proximate area of Maenam Hill has been distinguished as the Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary that houses a collection of rare Himalayan wildlife species. The Maenam sanctuary is famous for its hospitality to the Red Panda, Himalayan Black Bear, Leopard, Black Pheasant Cat, several species of Deer and other endangered animals. It is also a great site for the birdwatcher. It houses a collection of rare Himalayan wildlife species and is rich in flora. The forests around these hills include vegetation like Oak, Chestnut, Magnolia and Rhododendron trees.
