The Lumbini Park of Hyderabad is a part of the Buddha Poornima project located few yards from the monolithic Buddha statue on the Rock of Gibraltar in the Hussain Sagar. The Park has been named after the garden that was the birth place of Siddharth, the later day Buddha.

It is located in Hyderabad which is the fourth largest city in India and capital city of the Indian state of Telangana. The park is situated near Tank Bund.

History of Lumbini Park
The Lumbini Park at Hyderabad was built in the year 1994 on five acres of land adjacent to Hussain Sagar. Later in the year 2006, it was renamed as T. Anjaiah Lumbini Park in the memory of late Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

The park is beautifully decorated with seasonal flowering plants, rock, pebbles and cacti accompanied by neatly laid pathways for strollers. It also has large trees, which provide good shade at the same time filling the area with greenery. On one side of the Lumbini Park is the office of the State Secretariat and on the other side is the serene Hussain Sagar Lakeand the exotic Birla Mandir majestically standing on the hilltop. Another highlight of the park is laser auditorium. It is believed that this auditorium is the first of its kind in India which can seat up to 2000 people at a time for a show.

There is a large floral clock at the main entrance of the park. The floral clock is decorated with bright and beautiful flowers. The park is very popular among the children as it offers a host of entertainment activities for them. The park is also designed with a foyer for waiting passengers who wish to enjoy a boat ride in the Hussain Sagar. The boat riders can have a wonderful view of the giant, monolithic Buddha in granite and also the sculptured life story of the "Prince of Peace".

The Lumbini Park is well known for its musical dancing fountain with cascading water falls provided with colourful lights. The fountains dance rhythmically to the tunes of popular Hindi and Telugu film songs. The glowing sodium vapour lamps and the kiss of the cool breeze add another dimension to the ambience of Lumbini Park. This beautiful entertainment park is an ideal spot for in-city picnics.
