Lulung, OdishaLulung is situated at about 20 kilometres from Baripada in Odisha and at the eastern end of Simlipal Tiger Reserve. It is a paradise for nature lovers. Lulung offers an invigorating time to the tourists amidst majestic hills covered with dense forests, tall Sal trees, meandering Palpala River and call of elephants from far away.

Forestry in Lulung
Exploring the thick forests of Lulung is the most fascinating feature of tourism in this region. Palpala River flows through it in a snake like fashion, talking continually with the resplendent nature around it. Tribal villages are situated around Lulung and a walk through the villages witnessing the tribal lifestyle is also an interesting activity here. Kalipahar, located at a distance of 3 kilometres, is another tourist site that houses a milky white waterfall.

Simlipal Forest in Lulung
Simlipal Tiger Reserve is also situated nearby which offers a delightful nature walk for the tourists. Simlipal Forest hosts two enchanting waterfalls namely Joranda Waterfall falling from a height of 150 metres and Barehipani Falls with a height of 399 metre. Lulung also presents a magnificent view of surrounding peaks such as Khairiburu peak, with a height of 1178 metre and Meghasani Peak which is 1158 metre high. Apart from Palpala River, other rivers flowing through the forest are Budhabalanga, Khairi and Salandi.

Pre Historical Aspects of Lulung
Near Lulung, some prehistoric sites are located which also serve as interesting tourist sites. Kuchai, situated at a distance of 28 kilometres, is known for housing ruins of Neolithic age.

Kulaina near Lulung
Kulaiana is 38 kilometres away and has ruins of Palaeolithic age. Deokund Waterfalls, Sulaipat Dam and Bangriposhi, located nearby, also attracts a plethora of tourists. Crocodile rearing centre situated at Ramtirtha is an ideal place for reptile lovers. Baripada, located near Lulung, is also famous for hosting religious centres like Ambika Temple and Jagannath Temple.

Hiking in Lulung
Hiking is the most cherished activity in Lulung, undertaken in the Similipal forest along with exploring the wildlife including deer, leopards, elephant, tigers etc. Banks of Palpala River serve as an ideal picnic spot. Lulung also offers one of the best bird watching experiences.

Tourism in Lulung
The ideal time for opting tourism in Lulung is from the month of November to June. A stay in the cottage of Lulung embraced by forest, sparkling rivers, stunning waterfalls and frolicking wild animals can be treasured for life.
