Loreto College, KolkataLoreto College offers B.A. Honours courses in English, Education, History, Political sciences. The subjects for general course study are Education, Film Studies, Human Rights, History, Economics, Political Science, Psychology, Journalism and Mass Communication, English, Bengali and Hindi. Loreto College also offers Honours course in Psychology. The Honours courses offered in B.Sc is Geography with Economics and Political science as the elective subjects. There are B.A. Major courses done in Communicative English and Computer Applications.

There is a well-equipped Computer Center in the Loreto College. The syllabuses for the courses was designed by the college and is executed with the objective of imparting basic knowledge of computer and make the students acquainted with the latest knowledge of the computer. The faculty encourages the student for their all round development. Apart from the regular computer classes the students are encouraged to spend their free time on the computer laboratory for learning and practicing. There are computer teachers who guide them. Students are also expected to use the computers while seeking information for project work, the college magazine, brochures for the annual drama, matter required for college fest (Samagam), etc. The department also conducts optional training on advanced application packages. Practical examinations are taken after completion of individual topics. Each teaching class is followed by an exercise covering previous topics. A few surprise tests are also taken. The students are evaluated on the basis of exams after every short course. The students are awarded with certificates according to their merit and also for their efforts. Records of all the department works are maintained from time to time. The special courses that are taught here are as follows- Compulsory courses in Windows XP (operating system), Office 2000 (Application Package), Internet Application, Special Courses in HTML (creating web pages & web sites), Photoshop (Image Editor), Flash (Web Animation), Corel Draw (Graphic Design Package), Journalism department (Quark Express) and Geography department (GIS) have special course in computer. A computer society has been set up in 2004-2005 as a part of co-curricular activity.

The college also has a library, which is very well stocked. The collection comprises documents covering a wide range of subjects mainly the books in English, Bengali, Hindi, and a considerable part in French, German, Irish and other European languages. There are a large number of books on various disciplines including social sciences, arts, literature and History. There are also interesting collections of Biographical works, philosophy and religion. The main collection is on reference books on subjects, general reference books and fiction.

The Loreto College Library remains open to users six days a week from 8 am to 5 pm. On holidays too the library is open for few hours. A collection of newspaper clippings is being maintained in the library. Photo copying facility is also available. There are also computers in the library.

The Loreto College Alumnae Association was formally registered as a Society in January, 2000. While one of its main objectives is to provide the basic ideals of a Loreto education and encourage community work, the association strives to assist its Alma Mater in various ways. Over the past years, LCAA has donated prizes to encourage meritorious scholars, granted scholarships and stipends to deserving yet needy students in the college, made donations for books and medicines to other Loreto schools and contributed to the college Roof Fund.

In the year 2001, the Alumni association organized a seminar "women and the media". This seminar evoked enthusiastic response and was attended by the members of academic community from different colleges. Many of the alumni of this college are eminent media personalities and well-known academician. The annual reunion of this college held in February every year. Alumnae members are also invited to attend the College Open Day that held in the month of December every year where they can interact with the current students where they can strengthen the bond further.
