Lingam PoojaTo begin with, one must daily do abhishekas (Divine Bathing) with fresh milk, fresh curd, fragrant herbal powders & water, reciting the following mantra-

THATH PURUSHAAYA VITHMAHAE
MAHADEVAYA DHEEMAHI
THANNO RUDRA PRACHODHAYAATH

One needs to light incense and offer dhoop. After bathing the linga, it should be wiped gently with a specified cloth. It is advised to apply some sandal powder & vermilion, dampened with a little water to bring it to a paste form. Rudram recitation pleases Lord Shiva, which is either chanted or played during the abhisheka (Divine Bathing). Sanskrit mantras have been created in such a way that they are shelled with godly vibrations and it definitely mends the environment & atmosphere.
