Life OK is a Hindi-language Indian cable and satellite television channel. It is an entertainment television channel, based in India and a part of STAR India, the Indian media and entertainment company running 58 channels in 8 languages. Wholly owned by The ShowMaker Company and 21st Century Fox, the channel was launched on December 18, 2011, replacing STAR India`s now defunct youth-oriented TV channel STAR One.
The channel, on its launch, described and sold itself as "a brand new entertainment channel that turns up the volume on the things that really matter through its unique and poignant stories. It is an invitation and a reminder to everyone to value the things that really matter in life through life changing moments."
Distributed in many parts of the world, Life OK launched its High Definition (HD) version in India, with 1080i picture quality and 5.1 Dolby digital sound, in October 2012. The channel along with its HD version is available in all satellite television providers in India, such as Tata Sky, Videocon d2h, Dish TV and Airtel digital TV. The channel launched in the United States on March 1, 2012, although its programmes were aired on STAR India One prior to the launch. In the United Kingdom (UK) and Ireland, it ran under the STAR One brand, until May 28, 2012 when it became Star Life OK. In the UK, the channel"s Audience share was reported as 0.05 per cent by Broadcasters" Audience Research Board (BARB). Apart from these countries, Life OK is broadcast in Singapore, Nepal and other South Asian countries.
Content development for Life OK was handled by Sanjog Gupta, while programming was originally headed by Dimpi Dey and presently by Sushma Rajesh.
On September 9, 2012, the channel recorded its highest TRP (Television Rating Point) of 167, with its broadcasted mythological drama "Devon ke Dev... Mahadev" achieving a TVR (Television Viewer Rating) of 8.2.
