Libraries of South India comprise various libraries which belong to the different states like Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Telangana. These libraries contain books on innumerable subjects, along with historical documents, newspapers and magazines.
Libraries of Andhra Pradesh
The city of Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh houses libraries like Sri Krishna Devaraya and Andhra Bhasha Nilayam. District Library is located in Guntur, a city in the Guntur district. Visakha Public Library is housed in Visakhapatnam, the largest city of Andhra Pradesh. Venidandla Hanumantaraya Library is situated in Vijayawada, a city on the banks of the Krishna River. Tirupati, a city in Chittoor district serves as a home to a library called Sri Venkateswara University Library. CP Brown Library is located in the city of Kadapa.
Libraries of Karnataka
Libraries in Karnataka involve numerous institutes which are complete with various sources of knowledge. They were established for providing services to the regional residents of this south Indian state. Some of them are owned by the State Government of Karnataka, while many others are privately-owned. The city of Mysore serves as a home to libraries like the Mysore University Library, SDM Institute for Management Development Library and Oriental Research Institute and Manuscript Library. Digital Library of India, Documentation Research and Training Centre and Indian Institute of World Culture are located in the capital city of Karnataka namely, Bengaluru.

Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu serves as a home to libraries like the Government Public Library, Roja Muthiah Research Library, Central Library (Indian Institute of Technology Madras) and Anna Centenary Library. The district of Salem houses the District Central Library. Connemara Public Library is situated in Egmore, an important residential area near Chennai. Saraswathi Mahal Library is located in the city of Thanjavur. Villupuram, a municipality and an administrative headquarters of Viluppuram district serves as a home to a library called the Villupuram District Central Library.

The state of Kerala has several libraries. Libraries of Telangana
Two noteworthy libraries of Telangana are State Central Library and Sundarayya Vignana Kendram. Both these libraries are located in Hyderabad, the capital city of Telangana. It is important to note that according to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014, Hyderabad in the existing state of Andhra Pradesh was declared as the common capital of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, for a period not exceeding ten years.
