Lengpui AirportLengpui Airport is in Aizawl, Mizoram, India. Lengpui Airport is regarded as the first large airport in the country, which was built by the State Government. The Lengpui Airport has also bagged the honour of being the second largest airport in the North-East region. The airport has a 2500-metre runway, which is considered unique in the sense that it has many hilly streams running below. The airport was constructed at a cost of Rs. 97.92 crore. The construction procedure was completed in a record time of two years and two months. Prior to the construction of this airport, Aizawl was 130 km from the closest railhead at Bairabi and 205 km from the nearest airport at Silchar. The airport provides daily flights to Kolkata and Guwahati and three flights a week to Imphal. Air Deccan (Kolkata) and Indian Airlines (Guwahati, Imphal, Kolkata) are the two airways touching down by the Lengpui Airport.
