Lavasa is constructed as the India`s newest hill station since Independence of India in 1947. This private city is being constructed by Lavasa Corporation, a unit of Hindustan Construction Company, a private enterprise in India. Lavasa is stylistically based on the Italian town "Portofino", with a street and several buildings bearing the name of that town. Lavasa is based on the construction of two planned towns for the tourists, and a number of residences have been completed as of 2013. By 2011, there were four hotels and a city centre was completed.
