Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium is located in Hyderabad, India. Originally the stadium was known as Fateh Maidan, which later was renamed after one of India`s former Prime Minister- Lal Bahadur Shastri. This stadium is maintained by the Hyderabad Cricket Association, and is the home ground for the Hyderabad Team.

Floodlights were installed in this ground in the year 1992 during the Hero Cup. It first came into use during the West Indies vs. Zimbabwe match. This ground was used for international matches, but that stopped once Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium came into being. However, the stadium is now hosting Indian Cricket League matches and is the home ground for the 2008 Edelweiss 20`s Challenge winners Hyderabad Heroes.

Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium is located behind the police control room, between Public Garden and Nizam College in Hyderabad. This venue acts as the venue for many international and domestic sporting events, especially for football and cricket. Previously known as Fateh Maidan, this ground can host up to 25, 000 spectators for a match. The swimming pool, shopping complex and the indoor stadium are the important aspects of this stadium. The ground has flood light facility.

Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium, so far, has hosted only three Test matches - all against New Zealand Team. Polly Umrigar`s double century and Subhash Gupte`s 7 wickets in New Zealand`s first innings were the most exceptional performances of the inaugural Test between these two teams that ended in a draw.

In 1988/89, local players Arshad Ayub with seven wickets in the match and Mohammad Azharuddin, who top scored with 81 runs, led India to a 10 wicket victory and in the process a series victory with 2-1 margin.

The inaugural ODI match was played in this ground in the year 1983-84 when India hosted Pakistan, which the home team won by 4 wickets.
