Lakshmi Gopalaswamy is a well known actress who predominantly appears in South Indian films. She has worked in several Malayalam, Kannada and Tamil films. Her debut film was Arayannangalude Veedu (Malayalam) alongside Mammootty which bagged her Kerala State Film Award for the best supporting actress. She is also a notable Bharatanatyam dancer.
Early Life of Lakshmi Gopalaswamy
She was born in Bangalore to M. K. Gopalaswamy and Dr. Uma Gopalaswamy. Her mother is a Scholar of music who encouraged her to learn and opt career in Bharatanatyam.
Acting Career of Lakshmi Gopalaswamy
Lakshmi made her acting debut in 2000 with the Malayalam film Arayannangalude Veedu. Her debut film got her the Kerala State Award for the best supporting actress. Her second film Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal, also released in the same year, too brought in much acclaim for her acting.
Then in the following years, she went on to work in various south Indian films including Achaneyanenikkishtam, Punyam, Kanavu Meippada Vaendum, Poorvapara, Mampazhakkalam, Vamanapuram Bus Route, Symphony, Vishnu Sena, Boyy Friennd, Kanaka Simhasanam, Smart City, and Keerthi Chakra.
Her next major break came in 2007 when she bagged the Kerala State Film Award for the second best actress for her performances in Thaniye directed by debutant film director Babu Thiruvalla and Paradesi directed by P. T. Kunju Mohammed. The same films also garnered her "Atlas Film Critics Award" for the best woman actor.
Her next big venture was Aptharakshaka (2010) directed by P. Vasu, opposite South Super Star Dr. Vishnuvardhan. The film gave her the opportunity to enact her dream role. In the film she was seen essaying the role of a dancer possessed by an evil spirit. The film was super hit and her performance received appreciation from both the critics and audiences.
