Lakshmana Temple in Chattisgarh is the first brick temple in India. It is located on the banks of the Mahanadi River.

Lakshmana Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is situated in Sirpur village of Chhattisgarh. It was built in the sixth century by Vasata who was the widow queen of Harsha Gupta of Somvansh. This temple possesses a square sanctum that has a slight curvilinear roof known as Shikhara.

This temple is a Panchrath type with Garbhagriha, Mandaps, Antraal and remarkable carvings. The entrance is one of the most attractive features of the temple. It is noted for the statue of Sheshnaag that serves as an umbrella to Lord Vishnu. The images Lord Vishnu have been sculpted on the either side of the entrance. Vaishnava Dwarpal and the depiction of Krishna Leela in ornamental symbols are the prominent ones.

This temple is around 90 km from the state capital of Raipur. This temple faces the east and it stands on a high massive platform. At present the mandapa is in ruins was upheld by stone pillars in rows. The doorframe is carved with figures of Seshasayi Vishnu along with other incarnations.
