Kushavarta Ghat is located in Haridwar, Uttarakhand on the banks of River Ganges. This ghat is considered to be one of the most sacred places of Haridwar. Kushavarta Ghat was constructed by the Maratha Queen Ahilyabai Holkar during 18th century. Devotees from different parts of India visit the ghat to take a holy dip in it. This ghat is used to perform all kinds of rituals including "Shradh" (funeral).
Mythological Significance of Kushavarta Ghat
According to the Hindu mythology, the great ancient sage Dattatreya visited and meditated at this ghat. It is believed that he performed penance by standing on one leg for thousand years to please the almighty.
