Kumaun University is located in Nainital in Uttar Pradesh that caters to educational needs of the region.

Kumaun University, Nainital, UttarakhandKumaun University located in Nainital of Uttarakhand was established in 1973. It is a residential cum affiliating university. This is a state administered University with two campuses, namely, Almora Campus at Almora and DSB Campus at Nainital. There is a third campus at Bhimtal that will provide professional, technical and vocational education. Nearly twenty-eight colleges are affiliated to the University with the territorial jurisdiction extending over the whole of Kumaun region. The University is a member of the Association of Indian Universities.

The University is successfully imparting education in twenty-seven departments out of which, twenty-three are postgraduate departments and four undergraduate departments. The University is renowned nationally and internationally for conducting excellent research and imparting knowledge in Particle Physics, Environmental Geology, and Environmental economics. Its progress has caught the attention of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) who have accredited the University with a four star status.

It imparts research and teaching in twenty three postgraduate and four undergraduate departments.
