The founder of Kumara Smapradaya is Sri Hamsa Bhagvan. This sect is also known by various other names like Hamsa Sampradaya, Kumara Sampradaya, Catuh Sana Sampradaya and Sanakadi Sampradaya.
Hamsa Bhagwan is one of the incarnations of Lord Vishnu. According to Nimbarka Sampradaya he is supposed to have incarnated at the beginning of Satya Yuga. His form as a swan is significant. The entire purpose of this bona-fide incarnation was to start the Sri Nimbarka Sampradaya and deliver the famous Sri Gopala mantra.
The four Kumaras are Sanaka, Sanandana, Sanatana and Sanat Kumara who are the four mind-born sons of Lord Brahma. They are renowned yogis who had requested their father for the boon of remaining five years old. They were created in order to advance creation. However they chose to undertake lifelong vows of Brahmacharya. After obtaining initiation of Sri Gopala Mantra, these four brothers realised that the truth lies beyond the impersonal in the highest Person. After having obtained his grace and being initiated into Vaishnava tradition, they had spread the teachings of the path of renunciation.
