"Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" is a Bollywood movie, which created much hype among the college students in the year of 1998. `Kuch kuch hota hai` was released on 16th October 1998. This film is based on the love triangle in true sense of the term. "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai", also shows a great instance of intense friendship. This was the director`s debut venture, which created a history in the field of Indian cinema. This is the fourth film of the hit on-screen pair Shahrukh Khan-Kajol. The electrifying presence of Rani Mukherjee and Salman Khan in an important role has added some extra spice to it. Kuch Kuch hota hai, won many major awards in that year including Filmfare Awards, Zee Cine Awards, and Sansui Viewer`s choice movie awards. It was a blockbuster movie, which earned huge revenue in 1998.
Plot of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
This story of this movie revolves around the three characters namely Rahul, Anjali and Tina. It is based in the St. Xavier College. Rahul (Shahrukh Khan) and the tomboy Anjali (Kajol) are best of friends. One day Tina played by Rani Mukerji, who is the daughter of the Principal of St. Xavier College, enrols at the same college. She is just opposite to Anjali as she is beautiful, feminine, and sophisticated. Till date Rahul knows only Anjali but after seeing Tina he realises what girl is and he soon fell in love with her beauty and herself. But at the same time, Anjali realized that she has a love feeling for Rahul. Probably prompted by a careless comment on his part that she had overheard, which equated love with friendship. This creates a love triangle for three friends. One day, Rahul confesses his love for Tina to Anjali. Anjali cannot bear the pain of loosing her friend and leaves college suddenly. Rahul feels lonely without his friend but forget her because of Tina. Tina and Rahul marry and have a child, whom Tina names Anjali. Tina dies in childbirth, but had previously written a series of eight letters. Every year, on Anjali`s birthday, she is given a letter and hears her mother`s loving wishes for her. In the eighth and last letter, the little girl is told about her namesake. In that letter she knows everything about her parents` college life, about Anjali, their love, etc. after knowing all these Anjali Jr. believes that the older Anjali can make her beloved father happy again, and decides to help her father. She soon recruits her adoring grandmother (Rahul`s mother, played by Farida Jalal) and 
grandfather (Tina`s father played by Anupam Kher) as accomplices. By that time Anjali has bowed to her family`s wishes and is engaged to another man Aman (Salman Khan). Without knowing this Anjali Jr. locates her father`s sweetheart who was conducting a summer camp. So she enrolled in that accompanied by her grandmother. Anjali and Rahul soon meet in that camp and their feelings revive. The film has a happy ending as Aman steps aside and let the couple marry and live their life happily at last.
