Krishnamachari Srikkanth, Indian Cricket PlayerKrishnamachari Srikkanth, the dexterous right-hand batsman and right-arm medium pace bowler, was born on 21st December 1959 in Chennai, of India. He was a prolific opening batter who captained India and is presently the chairman of selector for Indian Cricket Team. This ex-cricketer of Indian cricket team excelled in batting, and his adventurous batting technique was marvellous. Energetic Krishnamachari Srikkanth could drive away the most perilous of bowling tricks, to serve his benefit, though; at times he had been entrapped by some of the simplest bowling approaches.

Career of Krishnamachari Srikkanth
Srikkanth got the scope to make his One-Day International debut against England in Ahmedabad in 1981. Post two days of this debut, he embarked on his Test debut against England at Mumbai. Srikkanth`s first appearance as an opening batsman of the Indian Team happened when he was 21. His partner was the world-class Sunil Gavaskar. Each of these two batsmen had their unique art of batting. If Gavaskar`s was of traditional excellence, Srikkanth turned out to be an exuberant hitter of runs. Srikkanth`s careful sight and flexible reflexes were his hallmark.

Srikkanth with his dashing batting emerged to be a main pillar of strength for the Indian team. He played the role of a core member of the victorious team of the 1983 Prudential World Cup and 1985 Benson and Hedges World Championship Cup. His prowess bestowed on him the responsible and respected post of captaincy of the Indian Team in 1989.

However, his batting was not that praiseworthy, in the latter times. He was thus subsequently, dropped by the selectors. But after two years he made a comeback, and continued playing for another year, till he suffered another seatback.

Finally, he bade adieu to his player`s career in international cricket in 1993. He has the glorious record of a fifty and 5 wickets in the same ODI. He attained this outstanding deed against New Zealand at Vishakapatnam District in 1988. He concluded retirement to make a new beginning. He emerged to be the coach of the India `A` team. He executed this assignment successfully.
