Krishna Kanta Handique (1898 - 1982) has to his credit some articles like Anubadar katha, Spanish sahityat Romeo Juliet, German sahityat sapon natak, Greek natakar gan, Socratesar mate kavir prakriti and so on. Each of them shows the writer`s deep literary understanding. His inspiration has been the familiar style of Greek architectonic discipline. He adds to this his own insight. His prose style is controlled rhythm combined with masculine vigour.
His three major works: Naisadhacarita of Sriharsa(1934), Yasastilika and Indian Culture (1949) and Pravarasena`s Setubandha. A university has also been opened in his name: The Krishna Kanta Handique State Open University which is first of its kind in the entire North East and fourteenth amongst the Open universities in India.
He was known as Indologist too. He was the Vice-Chancellor of Guwahati University for nine years. He had also established the Hemalata Handique Memorial Institute in Jorhat. He is known for his generosity to literary and educational foundations.
