Krishna Dasa Kaviraj Goswami, Bengali AuthorKrishnadasa Kaviraja was the creator of a biography on the life of the legendary mystic saint Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, which was termed as `Chaitanya Charitamrita`. Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is believed to be an incarnation of the divine combination of Lord Krishna and Radha, as per the ideals of The Gaudiya Vaishnava School of Hinduism.

Early Life of Krishnadasa Kaviraja
Krishnadasa Kaviraja Goswami was born to a family of physicians in 1496 CE in Jhamatpur village, Bardhaman, West Bengal. His mother was Sunanda and his father`s name was Bhagiratha, while his younger brother was called Shyamananda Dasa. His parents expired when he was quite young, and due to their untimely death, Krishnadasa and his brother were brought raised by their relatives.

Works of Krishnadasa Kaviraja
Krishnadasa Kaviraja began composing the Chaitanya Charitamrita when he was quite elderly, at the request of the devotees of Mahaprabhu Chaitanya in Vrindavan who were looking forward to unearthing the intricate details about the life of the great saint. Krishnadasa has employed the diaries of Swarupa Damodara and Murari Gupta while penning down the Chaitanya Charitamrita. It is said that this author was provided with adequate information by his guru Raghunatha Dasa. The Gaura-ganoddesha-dipika of Kavi Karnapura has identified Krishnadasa Kaviraja as being an avatar of Kasturi Manjari, who was the handmaiden of Lord Krishna.

Krishnadasa has also written a few short prayers in Sanskrit language, besides the major work on Chaitanya Charitamrita. His `Govinda-lilamrita` is a famous literary work which explains the regular life of Lord Krishna and his associates in the region of Vrindavan and `Saranga-rangada kangada tika` is a commentary on `Krishna-karnamrita` of Bilvamangala Thakura.
