Kirti College, Mumbai Kirti M. Doongursee College, also known as Kirti College, is one of the valued colleges located at Dadar West in Mumbai. Founded in the year 1954, the college is situated in the heart of Mumbai. Kirti College is the sister concern of Pune`s renowned Fergusson College and is known to have excellent teaching faculty. Kirti College is affiliated to the University of Mumbai.

History of Kirti College
On the successful completion of 60 years, the Deccan Education Society started Bombay College in the city of Mumbai. The college was started to establish a link between Mumbai and Pune, the head office of the society, and also the link between the society and the rest of the country. The foundation stone of Bombay College was laid by Maharshi Dhondo Keshav Karve and college finally started in the year 1954. In the year 1960, on the 75th anniversary of the society, The Bombay College was renamed as Kirti M. Doongursee College. The naming ceremony was presided over by an eminent educationist Dr. Sarvpalli Radhakrishnan, the Vice-President of India at that time. The Deccan Education Society received the donation from Seth Manoobhai Doongursee in memory of his late son Kirti M. Doongursee, who was a student of this college.

Objective of Kirti College
The main objective behind the establishment of Kirti College is imparting all-encompassing quality education, through united efforts, especially to the underprivileged sections of the society. Kirti College also aims towards providing a comprehensive environment for all-round personality development of the students as well as empowerment of students by imbibing social skills for career development. Kirti M. Doongursee College believes in inculcating good moral values and a sense of nationalism among the students.

Courses Offered at Kirti College
Bachelor`s degree in streams like Arts, Commerce, Science and Mass Media, M.Sc and M.Phil are the main courses offered at Kirti College. Kirti College is contributing by its academic effort towards its realization. The college also enrolls students for Ph.D. courses. Apart from these academic courses, the college provides several opportunities for the students to develop their extracurricular talents and to explore their potentials.

Facilities at Kirti College

The library has a book bank facility, exclusively for the students, for the needy and deserving students coming from socio-economically weaker sections of society.

Sports are an important facet of life at Kirti College. Chess, Kabaddi, Boxing, Kho Kho, Cycling, Swimming, and Cross-country are some popular sports taken up by students. The NCC and NSS units are active. The college also offers a well equipped Gymkhana. Co-curricular activities are also encouraged in college. Kirti College is well known for its cultural activities, the college has produced many famous artists from dramatics, music, dance, fine-arts, and literary sections. Kirti College has started its own cultural festival "Antarang" since 2006. Various competitions in literary, fine-arts, dramatics, music and elocution are conducted at the intercollegiate level in this event.

Alumni of Kirti College
Kirti College has a long alumni list. The list includes Ramesh Bhatkar, a popular Marathi theatre and movie actor, Actor Chetan Dalvi, Harshada Khanvilkar, Devendra Pem, Janardan Lavangare, another Marathi Stage actor, Musician Sudhir Sinha.
