Kiran Karmarkar has started his acting career with Marathi play`Dinmaan` in 1989. From then he continued his acting with Marathi theatre and serials. He had also done several commercials. In 1997 he took up two serials, `Safar` and `Panther`. From 97 onwards, he was a regular artist in Ekta Kapoor`s Camp. `Itihas`, `Padosan`,`Ghar Ek Mandir`,`Kahani ghar ghar ki`,`Kehena hai kuchh mujhko`.

Kiran karmarkar admires Vikram Gokhle (another versatile actor in Theatre, Film and Television Industry) very much, believes him as his Guru. From him he learnt to be calm and quite with everyone in every situation.Kiran is an introvert person. Only being extrovert with whom he wants to be.

Ghar Ek Mandir` was the turning point of his career. He does not mind to work with women protagonist world, but believes, one day he will surly get a fare chance to make a difference.

After having precious five years relationship with Balaji Productions, now Kiran is moving to other Productions but he is very much satisfied with his good relations with all the previous productions.

`From playing `Om` a devoted husband in `Kahani ghar ghar ki`, again Karmarkar returned to small screen with Smriti Irani`s `Thodi si zameen, thoda asmaan` where he is playing as a mentally challenged person.

KIran Karmarkar had played in the film- `Thoda tum badlo, thoda hum`. He plays the role of Arya Babbar`s father. Kiran`s deepest desire is to work with Gulzar one day. He does not want to confine himself in theatres or in small screen. He wants to explore his acting adaptability.For the awards he says," I consider awards are important, if I don`t get, its ok, but if I get them, it`s good."
