Khawnglung Wildlife Sanctuary is situated at distance nearly 170 kms away from the region of Aizawl in the Indian state of Mizoram and the total area covered by the sanctuary measures about 35 square kilometres. It is based at an elevation of nearly 400 to 1300 metres and the most prominent vegetation of the sanctuary is Sub-Tropical and Semi Evergreen Forests. Visitors to this place will observe that general climate of this wildlife sanctuary remains pleasantly warm all the year round. This region is nicely connected by roadways.

Sambhar, Hoolock Gibbon, Himalayan Serow, Wild Boar, Barking Deer, Leopard and a large quantity of other wild creatures have found a safe refuge within the confines of the Khawnglung Wildlife Sanctuary. The place receives rainfall of about 2100 mm to 2500 mm annually which imparts a calm ambience to the sanctuary. Lengpui is the closest airport to the Khawnglung Wildlife Sanctuary while Silchar is its nearest railway station. The time between the months of October and March are ideal time for paying visit to the sanctuary.
