Mahabharata mentions that Kardama is one of the fourteen Prajapatis. He was married to Devahuti, the daughter of Daksha.

The Prajapatis are the caretakers of the fourteen worlds, the seven Lokas and seven Talas. The other Prajapatis are Daksha, Prachetas, Pulaha, Marichi, Kasyapa, Bhrigu, Atri, Vasistha, Gautama, Angiras, Pulastya, Kratu and Prahlada.
