The demon Kapila is the son of Prahlada. Kapila, the danava introduced the system of the four stages of life when demons were competing with the gods. The four stages of life were student life (brahmacharya), householder life (grihastha), forest-dweller life (vanaprastha) and lastly the life of an ascetic (sannyasa).
The demons performed this act and weakened the gods as they did not receive blessings from the forest dwellers or ascetics.
In a mythical story of Kapila Sura it is described that the mighty demon, Kapila fought with Bhima. Kapila was killed by Bhima but later revived by Nakula and Sahadev.
