Kalika Temple, GoaThe Shree Kalika Devi temple is located in the Indian state of Goa. More specifically, this temple is situated at Kansarpal in the Bicholim taluka of North Goa. From Mapusa this temple is located at a distance of about 14 to18 kms. This temple is considered to be about 100 years old. It is also known as the Mahamaya Kalika Saunsthan. Goddess Kalikadevi is the ruling deity of Kalika Devi temple. In this temple, goddess Kali or Rudra is worshipped in the form of Mahamaya. Goddess Kali is considered to be a fierce form of Goddess Durga. The Daivadnya Brahmans are the main devotees of Goddess Kali, therefore this temple is frequented by them. It is important to note that among the places of worship in North Goa, Shree Kalika Devi temple is given the status of a vital monument.

Architectural Design of Kalika Devi Temple
Shree Kalika Devi temple represents the architectural design of the Kadamba dynasty. The temple structure is considered to be unique as it is a blend of fine sculpture and architectural designs. This temple is divided into two outer halls which have four pillars of seven rows. While the inner shrine of the temple is adorned by the image of Goddess Kali, the sanctorum, an inviolably private place inside a temple contains the main idol of Goddess Kali. This idol is considered to be a masterpiece of the Kadamba sculptures. A stage in the temple is utilized to perform dramas and other activities, during the festive occasions. The structure of the temple is also provided with a dome, which is surmounted by a huge gold kalash. This temple is generally lonesome, but is known to attract thousands of devotees and visitors due to this huge gold kalash.

Many festivals are celebrated at the Kalika Devi temple. Some of these festivals are Vasant Puja, Navratri, Shishirotsav and Dussera.

Accommodation is one of the unique features of Kalika Devi Temple. The rest houses are located in the temple compound and they are called the Agrashalas. Therefore, lodging facilities for the devotees can be arranged by the temple.
