Kaliadeh Palace is one of the well maintained and most artistic palaces of Ujjain which is built on a small isle that is separated by a small stretch of water. Situated at the bank of river Shipra this palace has a Persian style of architecture. This palace is one of the well known sights of Ujjain that represents the glorious past of the city. It is the most visited sites of the state of Madhya Pradesh.
History of the Kaliadeh Palace
This palace had undergone through the hands of the Pindaris but the fact is that, Madhav Rao Scindia restored the finery of the place and this was done in the year 1920. It is also known to all that the lost glory of the Sun Temple has also being restored by the same Madhav Rao Scindia.
Architecture of the Kaliadeh Palace
Kaliadeh Palace is built on a small isle which includes a central arena built according to the Persian style of architecture. The column is decorated with a number of pillars. The wall of the column is further decorated with inscriptions in Persian and Arabic language that define the visit of Mughal Emperor Jahangir and Akbar in the palace.
This palace faced some damages during the war period which was restored by Madhav Rao Scindia in 1920. The palace has been presently restored with its fineness and glory. Along with the compound wall and the pillars the sun temple is also renovated which is located at the centre of the palace.
Connectivity of the Kaliadeh Palace
People can reach the palace by rented bus or car once you have landed at Indore, because Indore is the adjoining airport. People can also reach there by the train that are very frequent and is linked to all the major cities.
