Kalghatgi, KarnatakaKalghatgi is a panchyat town in Dharwad District in Karnataka. Tracing down its strategic location, one can easily recognize Kalghatgi town in much better way. Thus Kalghatgi lies approximately at 15.18 degree north to 74.97 degree east. It has an average height of 536 meters or 1758 feet. To be specific Kalghatgi stretches to a distance of approximately 25 kms from Hubli.

As of 2001 India census, Kalghatgi had a population of 14,676. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Kalghatgi`s literacy condition too narrates certain important data about the town. One need to emphasize the fact that average literacy rate of Kalghatgi constitutes 62 %, which is even higher than that of India, which constitutes 59.5 %. Like the status of male population, its literacy rate too constitutes 69 %. Compared to male literacy female literacy rate of Kalghatgi constitutes 55 % only.

Primary attractions include two Jain temples. One of them is called Dodda basadi , a primitive temple devoted to Sri Shanthinatha Tirthankar. The other one is Chickka basadi. It has enshrined its principal deity namely Bhagwan Parshwanatha. Access point has been built so that Kalghatgi remains connected with other places. Hubli Junction Railway Station lies in vicinity.
