Jyothika, Indian ActressJyothika Sadanah Saravanan is a Tamil actress who has primarily acted in the Tamil and some Telugu films. Jyothika is a widely popular name in Kollywood and is regarded as one of the top actors in the south Indian film industry.

Jyothika Saravanan`s first Tamil movie as a heroine was Poovellam Kettuppar with Surya. A series of successful movies came up in her career, among them Kushi is the one, for which she won the Filmfare award for the Best Actress, Tenali and Dumm Dumm Dumm. In 2003 she starred in Dhool, opposite Vikram, in Kaaka Kaaka with Surya and in Thirumalai with Vijay. In 2004, she appeared in a double role for Perazhagan and received the Dinakaran Best Actress Award and The Filmfare award for the performance.

Jyothika Saravanan was her maiden name and she was born in Bombay. She is the daughter of a film producer, Chander Sadanah and Seema Sadanah. Jyothika has two sisters, Nagma, who is also an actress, Roshni, and a younger brother Suraj. She completed her education in Bombay. However, Jyothika abruptly discontinued her Psychology Degree course from Mithibai College of Arts, Mumbai to enter the film industry. She dated Tamil actor Surya for more than 3 years, then married him on 11 September 2006.

Jyothika Saravanan did her debut in the Hindi film Doli Saja Ke Rakhna, directed by Priyadarshan, opposite Akshaye Khanna. Although the film did not do well at the box office, she was noticed by the Tamil industry and became quite famous henceforth. She went forward to act in Kollywood and she debuted in a guest appearance in Vaali. Jyothika was awarded the Filmfare Award for the Best Newcomer for this film.
